Like a perm for your lashes, a lash lift semi-permanently curls the hair and is a great middle-ground option for those who want more than mascara but don't want to commit to extensions.

What is the lash lift process like?

The first thing to do is start with a consultation.

The lash artist will evaluate your natural lashes to determine the degree of lift needed to achieve the perfect look.
After the consultation, a rod is chosen and the lashes are glued to this rod using a medical-grade adhesive.
The glue used is water-soluble, so it is different from and much gentler than lash extension glue. The hardest part is keeping your eyes closed the whole time and getting used to someone touching your eyes and lashes for that long.
An activating solution is applied to activate the curl, followed by a neutralizing solution that seals it all in. The final step of the lift is to rinse the eyes thoroughly with a saline solution. The lift took a little over an hour, with each step of the process taking less time than the last.
The lashes are tinted (optional).
The tint is mixed with an oxidizing cream and applied to the lashes, then removed after a few minutes.

How long does a lash lift usually last?

Lash lifts generally last between 3.5 and 5 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle. In other words, if your hair grows quickly, you will need to stick to a three-to-four-week schedule, because the lift grows out along with your lashes.

What is the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions?

Extensions are the top-tier treatment in terms of appearance and cost. They add density, length, and curl to your own lashes. However, extensions are often more expensive and require a lot of maintenance. Lash growth serums are a more subtle option that help strengthen natural lashes and are used at home, although results can take some time to become visible. The lash lift is a middle-ground solution: a professional treatment that lasts for weeks and provides immediate results.

Do lash lifts damage lashes?

As with any chemical treatment, there is always a slight risk of damage, but when performed correctly, a lash lift does not damage lashes. Most lash lift treatments also incorporate a keratin treatment that helps to strengthen and fortify the hair.
